Let the Sneak Peeks at some of the new items coming out in the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog continue with this peek at the new Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate and another look at the new In Colors! I think you’ll become a fan of this new letterpress plate, just like I have!
This was actually the first project I made as soon as I got all of my Sneak Peek order from Stampin’ Up! I just LOVE letterpress and I wanted to play with this item right away. I’m so glad I did, because these cards turned out so beautifully! The pattern itself is so gorgeous, I didn’t want to take away from it by adding more images or a huge sentiment. So I kept the design simple and added a single sentiment. Of course, you can always choose a different sentiment as the fan design can go with any occasion.
Or you can just let the fan design stand on its own! That’s what I did with these Fancy Fan Mini Cards!
Don’t you just love how the pattern looks with the new In Colors? In case you forgot their names, they are (in order from left to right in the photo directly above): Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, and Pool Party. Gorgeous, right?
Geometric designs and patterns are very “In” right now, and this letterpress plate suits that trend perfectly! With or without a sentiment! So make sure to add the Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate to your wish list! Remember that you also need the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine to use the letterpress plates. TIP: When using letterpress plates, you’ll get the best results when you use them with a thicker card stock so that the design can really get pressed into the paper. I used some watercolor paper for my cards. Also, it is suggested that you use Craft Stampin’ Ink when doing letterpress as it coats the letterpress plates more evenly and results in a crisper press on your paper. But if you want to use a color and all you have is Classic Stampin’ Ink (like I did with the new In Colors), then here’s a fun little trick. Instead of patting the ink pad onto the plate to ink it, smear your ink pad across the letterpress plate a couple of times. Then pat the ink pad to even out the coverage. That’s what I did with these cards and it worked great!
Not very crafty? No worries! You can find both of these card sets in My Etsy Shop! And remember, you can always have them customized to suit your preferences!
